Bioprocessing and Industrial Enzyme Production Knowledge Exchange

DABA Biotech Limited was privileged to host Mr. Abdilah Kiula, Assistant Lecturer at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), for a knowledge-sharing engagement focused on bioprocessing and industrial enzyme production. Drawing on specialized training and experience gained in Israel, Mr. Kiula shared valuable insights into international biotechnology practices and approaches relevant to enzyme production and bioprocessing.

GCLA Laboratory Certification Consultation Meeting

On 10 September 2026, DABA Biotech Limited held a productive consultation meeting with the Government Chemist Laboratory Authority (GCLA) regarding the certification of our laboratory. The discussion focused on certification requirements, laboratory standards, quality management, technical compliance, biosafety, and necessary preparations. The meeting provided valuable guidance and marked an important step in strengthening our laboratory systems and advancing the certification process.

DABA Biotech Limited held a meaningful and productive consultation meeting with the Government Chemist Laboratory Authority (GCLA) concerning the certification of our laboratory. The meeting focused on understanding the requirements, procedures, standards, and preparations necessary for laboratory certification. It provided an opportunity for the DABA Biotech team to engage with GCLA representatives and gain a clearer understanding of the expectations for establishing and maintaining a compliant, safe, and quality-driven laboratory. Key areas discussed included laboratory quality management, technical requirements, documentation, personnel competency, equipment and infrastructure, biosafety, waste management, laboratory procedures, and regulatory compliance. The engagement also allowed the team to seek clarification on practical aspects of the certification process and identify areas requiring further attention and improvement. The guidance provided by GCLA will support DABA Biotech in strengthening its laboratory systems, improving operational practices, and ensuring that laboratory activities align with relevant regulatory and technical standards. The meeting represents an important step in DABA Biotech’s continued commitment to quality, safety, regulatory compliance, scientific excellence, and reliable laboratory services. DABA Biotech Limited hosted representatives from the Tanzania Plant Health and Pesticides Authority (TPHPA) for a productive consultation and laboratory visit. The engagement focused on laboratory operations, plant health diagnostic services, regulatory requirements, technical standards, biosafety, and quality assurance. The visit provided valuable guidance and an opportunity to strengthen collaboration and ensure alignment with relevant plant health and laboratory requirements.

The engagement provided an opportunity for the TPHPA team to learn more about DABA Biotech’s laboratory activities, capabilities, and services, particularly those related to plant health, molecular diagnostics, and biotechnology applications. During the visit, discussions focused on relevant plant health regulatory requirements, laboratory standards, diagnostic procedures, quality assurance, biosafety, documentation, equipment, and technical capacity. The interaction also provided an opportunity to discuss areas where DABA Biotech can further strengthen its laboratory systems and ensure that its activities are aligned with applicable requirements and standards. The TPHPA team provided valuable technical perspectives and guidance that will contribute to the continued development of DABA Biotech’s laboratory services. DABA Biotech Limited had the pleasure of hosting Mr. Geoffrey Israel Kirenga at its headquarters in Mwenge, Dar es Salaam. Mr. Kirenga is an experienced leader in Tanzania’s agricultural sector and has served as Chief Executive Officer of the Agricultural Growth Corridors of Tanzania (AGCOT) Centre. He brings extensive experience in agriculture value chains, agribusiness, crop development, and sustainable agricultural transformation. He previously served as Director of the Crop Development Division at the Ministry of Agriculture and holds an MSc in Entomology from Imperial College, University of London. The visit provided an opportunity to exchange ideas and explore the connections between biotechnology, agriculture, innovation, and sustainable development. DABA Biotech Limited appreciates Mr. Kirenga for taking the time to visit and for the valuable engagement and exchange of perspectives.
